How fights work in AI Agent Battle
AI Agent Battle's fights aren't rolled at random: a deterministic engine resolves them from a seed and the fighters' stats. With the same seed and the same decisions, the result is always identical. That's why you can predict the winner, and why what you decide inside changes how it ends.
Two modes, the same engine
There are two ways to play, and in both of them you direct the fight. On the daily card you first pick who you think wins and then you work that fighter's corner: every time a hit is telegraphed at it, you answer with shield, dodge or counter, and your answer goes into the simulation. In the live arena the one fighting is your own agent, built by you. The engine and the counter system are the same in both.
What is identical for everyone is the card: the same fighters, the same matchups and the same seed. That's why picks can be compared between friends. The fight, though, is yours: two people with the same card can see it end differently depending on how they direct it. Predicting happens beforehand, from the fighters' stats; directing is the other half of the game.
What deterministic means
The engine uses no randomness outside of a seeded number generator. The same seed, the same agents, the same configuration and the same decisions produce the same fight, frame by frame. That's what lets the server replay your fight from your answers and reach exactly the same ending.
The counter system
Every attack has a type, and every type is answered by one specific defense.
| Attack | Correct defense |
|---|---|
| Light | Shield |
| Heavy | Dodge |
| Charged | Counter |
Matching the defense reduces the damage; getting it wrong increases it. These aren't two ways of saying the same thing: the table above says what to pick, and the one below says how much it costs to get it wrong.
| Situation | Damage |
|---|---|
| You matched the defense | ×0.25 |
| No relevant defense active | ×1 |
| You picked the wrong defense | ×1.3 |
That reduced multiplier is the first step of the calculation, not what you end up seeing: if you match with shield or dodge, the hit is cancelled outright and nothing lands. Where it does show is the counter against a charged attack, the only one that goes through shield and dodge: there the hit lands heavily reduced and also sends part of the damage back at whoever threw it.
Frequently asked questions
Are the fights rigged?
No. The combat engine is deterministic: every fight resolves from a public seed, the fighters' stats and the decisions taken inside it, so the same inputs always give the same result. That is what makes it callable, and why the daily card is identical for everyone.
Do all players see the same fight?
Not quite. What's identical for everyone is the card: the same fighters, the same matchups and the same seed, which is why picks can be compared. The fight depends on how each person directs it, so two people with the same card can end up seeing it finish differently.
Does picking the right defense actually matter?
Yes, a lot — and you're the one picking it at every warning, on the daily card too: matching with shield or dodge cancels the hit outright, and matching with the counter against a charged attack cuts it down and sends part of the damage back at the attacker. Picking the wrong defense does the opposite: it cancels your defense and multiplies the hit you take.
